Mrs. Ada Jenkins Lawson, age 87 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010 following an extended illness. Mrs. Lawson was born on September 16, 1922 in Knoxville, Tennessee, daughter of the late Henry and Annie Poteet Jenkins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Lawson; two sons, Lester "Peanut" Lawson and Jack Lawson; three sisters, Julie Perian, Ellen Perian and Carrie Bates; a brother, H.B. Jenkins; grandsons, Stephen Phillips Ricky Long; and infant granddaughters, Katherine and Kathy Blalock. She was retired from the textile industry, and was a member of College Street Church of God.
Mrs. Lawson is survived by daughters, Chloie Dooley, Karella Long and her husband Johnny, Vickie Blalock and her husband Harold, all of Calhoun, Wanda Blalock, and Lonnita Willis and her husband Al, all of Adairsville; a son, Jimmy Lawson of Calhoun; and a brother, Will Jenkins of Delano, Tennessee. Twenty grandchildren and their spouses; thirty-two great- grandchildren and their spouses; nine great-great grandchildren,and nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Jenkins Lawson will be conducted Monday at 3:00 pm from the College Street Church of God, with Tommy Phillips and Pastor Donald Lee officiating. Active pallbearers will be Glenn Phillips, Randy Long, Clay Long, Lorin Lawson, Lane Lawson, Gary Blalock and Kam Willis. Honorary escort will be Tommy Lee Lawson, David Lawson, Joe Lawson, Jackie Lawson, Donnie Lawson and Jeff Lawson. Interment will follow the service in the Chandler Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday, beginning at 6:00pm.
