Alene Smith Moore

Ms. Alene Smith Moore, age 89 of Adairsville, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Oakview Nursing Home. She was a native of Gordon County, born on November 17, 1921 to the late Hugh and Nellie McDougle Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Greeson; a grandson, John Greeson; a granddaughter, Debra Johnson; a great-great grandson, Joshua Crawford; three sisters, Bernice, Lois and Betty; and a brother, Ralph Smith.

Ms. Moore had lived most of her lifetime in Gordon County, and was a retired hairdresser. She was a member of the East Calhoun Church of God.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Greeson and his wife Shirley of Adairsville, Rev. Crawford Greeson and his wife Barbara of Calhoun, and Danny Greeson of Taylorsville; two daughters, JoAnn Cabe and her husband Hubert of Emerson, and Brenda Oliver of Taylorsville; five sisters, Virginia, Joy, Georgia, Willie Paul and Rosa; and a brother, Robert Smith. Twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Ms. Alene Smith Moore will be conducted Saturday, January 29th at 2:00pm from the Union Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. Donald Collum and Rev. David Baker officiating. Music will be arranged by Travis Stephens, Tammy Freeman, and Terry Lowery. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Donald Collum conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Larry Greeson, Jr., Chris Cabe, Michael Snyder, Kevin Johnson, Brent Crawford, Anthony Gallman, Jonah Gallman, Larry Rollins, and Ricky Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Williams, Ray Hammond, and Charlie Cox.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
