Mrs. Alice Wigley Murphy, age 73 of Tucker Hollow Road, Calhoun, died Friday evening, December 24, 2010 at her residence following three weeks of declining health.
She was born on February 3, 1937, daughter of the late Walter Lee and Lou Daisy Tigue Wigley. She was retired from Mohawk Industries, and attended the Calhoun Full Gospel Fellowship in Calhoun. In addition to her parents, was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Murphy in 2004.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by two sons, Charles Akery of Trion, GA and Roy Akrey of Menlo, GA; two sisters, Daisy Wilbanks of Calhoun, GA and Blondell Williamson of Ider, Alabama; two brothers, Londell Wigley of Calhoun, GA and Cecil Wigley of Lyerly, GA; and a half-brother, Floyd Smith of Trenton, GA. Five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Florene Murphy will be held at the graveside of Fain Cemetery on Tuesday, December 28th at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Hershel Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday after 10:00 AM.
