Mrs. Angellee Gowens Hicks, age 70 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Hamilton Medical Center. She was born in Floyd County on December 18, 1937, daughter of the late Maken Andrew and Lula Belle Roye Gowens. During her lifetime, Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Bobby Ray Hicks; sons, John Hicks and his wife Mary of Adairsville, and Timmy Hicks of Calhoun; daughters, Robbie Hicks of Cartersville, Rhonda Lynne Childers and her husband Tim of Fairmount, and Donna Barnes and her husband Calvin of Plainville; brothers, Harvey Gowens and his wife Jean of Adairsville, and Ed Gowens of Calhoun; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and David Hicks of Dalton, and Marvis and Boyd Blalock of Calhoun. Eight grandchildren, Rev. Brandon Patterson, Marisa Young, Kris Hicks, Ashlee Holmes, Corey Childers, Felecia Barnes, Jeremy Barnes and Taylor Hicks; three great grandchildren, Mason Patterson, Katie Rae Patterson, and Makenna Hicks, and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Angellee Gowens Hicks will be conducted Thursday, June 12 at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Brandon Patterson officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include Kyle Young, Tony Gowens, Tracy Gowens, Jeremy Barnes, Corey Childers and Allen Blalock. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Gowens, Harvey Gowens, Cody Blalock, Hunter Blalock, Taylor Hicks and Kris Hicks. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
