Anne Elizabeth Dobbs Gilbert, 62, of Rome, Georgia passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, following several months of declining health. She was born in Rome, Georgia on October 2, 1961, to the late George and Miriam “Mick” Dobbs. She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Dobbs.
Anne was anchored and devoted in her strong Christian faith.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, William Michael Gilbert; sons, Blake (Lauren) Gilbert, Tyler Gilbert; sister, Marian Lee Dobbs (Charles A. Houlton); grandchildren, Lyra, Josie, and Penelope Gilbert; nephews, a niece, an aunt, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
Anne loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and loved any and all children and animals. She worked for many years at Rome-Floyd County Library, where she delivered talking books in the book-mobile to the blind and elderly. It was at the library where she met her husband, and where her children would spend their afternoons and days off from school. In her later years, she would sit and be a caregiver for the elderly.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 12:30 PM at the Rome-Floyd County Public Library, 205 Riverside Parkway, Rome, Georgia, 30161.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to God’s Love and Help in Time of Need Ministries at 17 Honeytree Trail, Rome, Georgia, 30165. This ministry helps single mothers, veterans, and those in need of clothing, shelter, and other items.
