Annette Ponder

Mrs. Laura Annette Ponder, age 71 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at her residence following a brief illness. She was born in Gordon County on August 31, 1940, daughter of the late Alex and Daisy Stokes Greeson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Greeson and James Greeson.

Mrs. Ponder was a homemaker during her lifetime, and was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Ranger.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Haden Ponder; two sons, Scott Ponder and his wife Lisa of Cartersville, and Jeff Ponder of Calhoun; a daughter, Robin Harkins and her husband Bruce of Calhoun; three brothers, Jan Greeson and his wife Lana of Calhoun, Ken Greeson and his wife Judy of Calhoun, and Billy Greeson of Rockmart; and four sisters, Louise Lewis and her husband Troy of Calhoun, Jean French and her husband A.W. of Calhoun, Linda Gilbert and her husband Doug of Ranger, and Sherrie Blalock and her husband Bull of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Cody Ponder, Emily Ponder, Logan Ponder, Joshua Harkins, and Seth Harkins. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Annette Ponder will be held Friday, February 10th at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Hibberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park, with Rev. Jimmie Timms conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Nick Blalock, Jason Ponder, Joshua Harkins, Cody Ponder, Logan Ponder, and Zevan Gilbert.

The Ponder family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
