Annie Bell Chamlee

December 2, 1914 — March 16, 2011

Mrs. Annie Bell Chamlee, age 96 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Cherokee, NC on December 2, 1914, daughter of the late M.A. Cook and the late Ora Hampton Cook. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three daughters, Jewell McCollum, Inez Holden, and Ruby Eunice McCollum; four brothers, Glenn Cook, Wayne Cook, Max Cook, and Robert Cook; and three sisters, Ella Garrett, Lela Mealor, and Bonnie Greeson.

Mrs. Chamlee loved gardening and flowers, and was a member of Eastern Star of Calhoun, the Ladies' Auxiliary of the American Legion, and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the VFW. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a sister, Effie Sturtz of Sugar Valley; five grandchildren, Larry E. Holden, Joann Pitts, Rickey Holden, Patricia Brinson, and Michael Holden; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Chamlee will be conducted Saturday, March 19th at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Chaplain Mark Atwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Michael Vowel, David Vowel, Paul Chang, Raymond Chang, Timmie Holden, and David Phillips. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 12:15pm.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
