Mrs. Annie Lou "Munner" Hensley, 85, of Calhoun and formerly of Plainville passed away Monday, April 30 at Gordon Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Hensley was born on February 1, 1922, daughter of the late Miles and Mozelle Chastain Conaway.
Mrs. Hensley retired as cafeteria manager from W.L. Swain Elementary School after having worked for many years at Plainville School. In addition to being a homemaker and farmer, Mrs. Hensley also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and fishing. Prior to her declining health, Mrs. Hensley enjoyed participating with the Gordon County Senior Citizens group. She was a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church and the Eunice Jones Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Hensley was preceded in death by three infant children; her husband, Mark Hensley; son-in-law Jim Allen; and great granddaughter Gracie Thacker.
Survivors include two sisters, Nell Bailey of Plainville and Bernice Bailey of Calhoun; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn Allen of Plainville; Linda Head and her husband Richard of Lindale, Theresa Burnette and her husband Glenn of Calhoun, and Betty Taggart and her husband Dave of Calhoun; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Hensley and his wife Marlene of Calhoun and Daryl Hensley and his wife Sue of Sugar Valley; grandchildren, Mike and Tina Allen of Adairsville, Ricky Allen of Plainville, Jeff Allen of Plainville, Karen and Tim Shaw of Calhoun, Misty and William Thacker of Plainville, Russ and Shala Head of Lindale, Terry and Dudley Epperson of Rome, Tessie and Andy Harmon of Steadman, N.C., Stephanie and Brian Carden of Calhoun, Matt Hensley, Chad Blankenship, and Savannah Hensley, all of Calhoun; Great grandchildren Jamey and Anthony Faulkenberry of Calhoun, John Michael Allen of Adairsville, Brandi and Aaron Moorehead of Plainville, Ashley Allen and Steven Allen, both of Cabot, Ark., Katie Shaw of Calhoun, Madalyn Thacker of Plainville, Maggie Jo Head of Lindale, Tyler Pavlovsky of Shannon, Tabitha Pavlovsky of Rome, Jayden Harmon of Steadman, N.C., Lawson, Jarrett, Laine, and Jhett Carden, all of Calhoun; and great-great-grandchildren Stetson, Justin, and Worth Faulkenberry of Calhoun, and Addison Moorehead of Plainville. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Lou "Munner" Hensley will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM from Meadowdale Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Pearson and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Dodd Cemetery in Plainville. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the Eunice Jones Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Music will be arranged by Angie Childers, Faye Bentley and Amy Rickett.
The family will receive friends Tuesday between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 PM. at the funeral home. Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the services for Mrs. Annie Lou "Munner" Hensley of Calhoun.
