Mrs. Annie Mathis Raines, age 61 of Dalton, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Hamilton Medical Center. She was born in Gordon County on October 6, 1947, daughter of the late Frank and Rose Jackson Raines. She was a member of Immanuel United Fellowship in Resaca. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Danny Raines.
Survivors include a son, Frankie W. Mathis of Dalton; two daughters, Ginger Long and her husband Gene of Dalton, and Pam Gwinn of Pennsylvania; five brothers, Ernest Raines of Resaca, and Jay Dee Kennedy, Lewis Mathis, William Mathis, and David Mathis, all of Calhoun; four sisters, Kathie Brown of Chatsworth, Clara Almond and her husband John of North Carolina, Dawn Davidson of Resaca, and Frankie May Wilson of Calhoun. Nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and special grandchildren, Andrina Long, Cody Hair, and Brandy Mathis also survive, along with other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Mathis Raines will be conducted Saturday, October 11 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Rob Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Oostanaula Baptist Church cemetery. Active pallbearers will include William Long, Wayne Bryson, Wayne Long, Randall Long, John Almond, Joseph Sumay, Cody Hair, and Greg Beavers. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 1:15pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.
