Antonia Adams Reid, 75, of Calhoun, Georgia, joined her beloved husband, Ed, and other friends and family in God's kingdom.
She was born to the remarkable Alice Adams on September 26, 1947, in Hollywood, Florida. Growing up with a blind mother shaped her and her exceptional late sister Mary into two formidable and steadfast women.
Antonia, or "Toni," the most loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, is survived by her dedicated children, Jennifer and Edward, and grandchildren, Cody, Cassie, and Allie Workman and Emilia Reid. The family also includes her son-in-law Scott Workman and her daughter-in-law Edie Reid, and her nieces Monta Hernon and Candace Walsh.
Toni graduated from South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida, in 1965 and then attended the University of Florida where she met her husband.
Toni had strength, resilience, and a quiet compassion that she passed on to her family. She and Ed were very involved in their children's and grandchildren's activities. Together they produced and directed a number of shows where the drama students jokingly and lovingly referred to her as the “hammer” due to her unwavering desire to bring out the best in everyone.
Toni also worked side by side with Ed professionally. She served as a legal secretary and was instrumental to the success of her husband’s law firm in Bradenton, Florida. She was well-loved by those who worked in the office over the years and by the many clients.
But, most of all, Toni was a mom, grandmother ("Nonni”), and an aunt adored by her family who stood by her as she battled cancer like the fighter she was. Her personality and resilience will live on in her family, for whom she served as an example of how to persevere and love passionately.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 2:00 PM from Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Sellers officiating with eulogies shared by Cassandra Workman, Alice Workman, and Edward Reid. Burial will follow at Georgia National Cemetery on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 1:30 PM. Pallbearers serving will include Edward Reid, Scott Workman, Robert Workman, and Joe Soewell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 22, between the hours of 12:00 Noon and 2:00 PM at Belmont Baptist Church.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family.
