Arnold Kirby

Mr. Arnold Veston Kirby, age 68 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Kirby was born on January 27, 1945 in Gordon County, son of the late Arnold Veston Kirby, Sr. and Viola Timms Kirby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. J.B. Kirby.

During his lifetime he was employed with Springs Global and had attended South Calhoun Baptist Church.

He was a loving father to his children and I-Daddy.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Mashburn Kirby of the residence; a daughter, Allison Dollar of Calhoun, a special daughter, Judy Erwin; a son, David Kirby and his wife Ginger; four sisters, Joyce Franklin, Odessa Davis and her husband L.C., Barbara Childers and her husband Willard, and Brenda Childers and her husband, Rev. Dennis Childers, all of Calhoun; and two brothers, Ricky Kirby and his wife Joyce, and Eddie Kirby and his wife Karen, all of Calhoun. A grandchild, the sunshine of his life, Madison Kirby; and a step-grand daughter, Nicci Robbs.

For the special care given to Mr. Kirby, the family wishes to honor his special Home Health Care Nurse, Glenda Hayward, and all of the staff of Heyman Hospice.

Funeral services for Mr. Arnold Veston Kirby, Jr. will be conducted Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the South Calhoun Baptist Church, with Rev. Gary Bowman and Rev. Duane Bohannon officiating. Music will be arranged by Larry Stone. Pallbearers serving will include Keith Franklin, Jason Kirby, Tim Kirby, Adam Childers, Vic Bohannon, Junior Bohannon, Randy Silvers, Jason Mullins and Greg Davis. Interment will follow the service at the Fain Cemetery.

The Kirby family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
