Mrs. Barbara Ann Jackson Hicks age 75 of Calhoun died late Wednesday October 2nd at her residence following several months declining health.
Mrs. Hicks was born in Floyd County, GA on August 6th, 1938, daughter of the late Howard and Mary Christine Stephens Jackson. She was preceded in death also by her husband, Rev. O'Neal Hicks in 2002 and together they pastored several churches for almost 40 years. Rev. Hicks always referred to her as his helpmate and to hear her sing was Heavenly, like hearing angels sing. Earlier in her life she was employed at Echota Cotton Mill and Springs Industries but she enjoyed the most being a homemaker and she loved to make a house a Home. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Chester and May-Belle Hicks of Calhoun.
Survivors include three daughters, Tina Hicks Colquitt and her husband Mitch, Selena Hicks and Tonya Hicks all of Calhoun. Grandchildren, Brandon Hicks and his wife Jessica of Panama City, FL., Lamanda Burger of Calhoun, James Vincent Burger and Casey McLachlan of Milledgeville, Laura Baldwin and her husband Tommy of Woodstock, Danielle Colquitt and Caleb Falconbury of Cassville. Great-grandchildren, Gaige Baldwin, Masin Baldwin, Tristen Coker, Hailey Hicks, Charles Lee Cecil, Cortney Sellears and Jackson Falconbury. Three sisters, Mary Jean Edmondson and her husband Johnny of Adairsville, Diane Register and her husband David of Rydal, and Remona Wright and her husband David of Summerville. Two brothers, Robert Jackson and his wife Janet of Silver Creek, and Lindsey Jackson and his wife Imogene of Calhoun. Two sisters in law; Nadine Hicks of Calhoun, and Linda Parker Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Barbara Ann Jackson Hicks will be conducted Saturday, October 5th, at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Pasley, Rev. Roy Parker and Sister Audrey Wilson officiating. Music will be arranged by Valerie Parker Taylor, Leah Parker Roach and Richie Parker. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park with Rev. Joe Parker and Rev. Johnny Parker conducting the graveside service.
The Hicks family will receive friends Friday October 4th, between the hours of 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home.
