Mrs. Barbara Ann White Pledger passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Gordon Health care following an extended illness. She was born in Gordon County on March 29, 1936, daughter of the late Richard and Ella Stephens White. Mrs. Pledger was a Registered Nurse, having been employed with Gordon Hospital for 29 years, and Hamilton Medical Center for 12 years, as an RN Clinical Psychiatric Nurse. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother in law, Charles Shaw.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Frank Doyle Pledger of Ranger; four sons, Donald Eugene Putnam and his wife Lou Ann of Ranger, Eric Lee Putnam and his wife Christy of Calhoun, Timothy Spurgeon Putnam and his wife Susie of Augusta, and Christopher Len Putnam and his wife Colleen of Ellijay; two brothers, Jerry White and his wife JoAnn, and Donny White and his wife Shelia all of Ranger; and three sisters, Charlotte Shaw, Joan Dutton and her husband Ray, and Joy Dutton and her husband Johnny all of Calhoun. Eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Ann Pledger will be conducted Saturday, May 30, 2009 from the graveside of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00am, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Pallbearers serving serving include Brandon Putnam, Tyler Putnam, Richard Putnam, Jay Halgat, McCoy Sullivan, and Alex Putnam.
The family will receive friends Friday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9;00pm at the funeral home.
