Barbara Jean Bynum

Mrs. Barbara Jean Bynum, age 78 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at her residence following three months of declining health. She was a native of Gordon County, born on March 30, 1932 to the late David "Dude" Bohannon and the late Agnes Odelle "Dell" Hayes Bohannon. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnie Doyle Bynum, Sr.; a son, Doyle Bynum; a daughter, Paula Bynum Bearden; a brother, Bobby Bohannon; and a sister, Virginia Bohannon Carney. She had been employed with Shaw Industries prior to her retirement.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Barbara Bynum of Calhoun; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Ed Hancock of Calhoun, and Nancy and Jere DeFoor of Crystal River, Florida; two brothers, Hayward Bohannon and Miron Bohannon; and a sister, Peggy Bohannon Adcock. Grandchildren surviving are Danny Watson, Chasity McGuire Conrad, Autumn Ritchie, Matthew Bynum, Kimberly Watson, Ashley DeFoor, Cody Bynum, and Jonathan Bynum. Great-grandchildren are Caleb McGuire, Abigail McJunkin, Christopher Conrad, Ethan Watson, James Conrad, Daniel Watson, Cadee Burns, and Noah Watson. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Jean Bynum will be conducted Thursday, December 16th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon, Rev. Jimmie Timms, and Cody Bynum officiating. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Matthew Bynum, Jonathan Bynum, Cody Bynum, Danny Watson, Jere DeFoor, and Austin Ritchie.

The Bynum family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 4:00pm until 9:00pm.
