Mrs. Barbara Poole Jackson, age 76 of Oakman, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Jacksonville, AL on November 23, 1936, daughter of the late Early "Josh" Poole and the late Effie Mae Champion Poole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Jackson; brothers, Charles Poole, Clarence "Pappy" Poole, and Leonard Poole; and sisters, Dean Willingham and Edna Pierce.
She leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Travis Jackson of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Lisa Jackson, and Larry and Deborah Jackson, all of Calhoun, and Phillip and Tama Jackson of Springfield, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and James Welchel of Calhoun, and Tammy and Marty Morgan of Oakman; two brothers, Jerry Poole and his wife Margie, and Johnny Poole; and a sister, Becky Pence, all of Boaz, AL. Sixteen grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Jenny Everett and her husband Ronnie; nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Barbara Poole Jackson will be held Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Bro. Marty Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Aaron Parker, Zane Parker, James Welchel, Marty Morgan, Dale Jackson, and Joey Jackson.
The Jackson family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
