Barney Darley

Mr. Barney Darley, age 69 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 in Jackson, Alabama while visiting relatives. He was born in Jackson on December 13, 1942, son of the late Barney and Alva Mae Stuckey Darley. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hillary Darley and J.T. Darley; and two sisters, Myrtle Johnson and Mildred Dailey.

Barney was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Shaw Industries. He was a member of the Welcome Gap Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Delora Channell Darley; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and David Stokes of Resaca; grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Erwin of Adairsville, and Taylor Langford of Calhoun; great-grandchildren, Maddie and Bennett Erwin of Adairsville; a twin sister, Bonnie Overstreet of Jackson, AL; and brothers, Bobby Darley, Sam Darley, and Francis Darley, all of Mize, Mississippi, Raymond Darley of Jackson, AL, and Calvin Darley of Huntington, TX. A sister-in-law, Nellie Darley of Eight Mile, AL, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Barney Darley will be held Thursday, July 5th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. J. Clinton Green and Rev. Larry Hayes officiating. Music will be arranged by the Welcome Gap Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Brandon Erwin, Taylor Langford, William Channell, Tim Mulkey, Chris Mulkey, and Bobby Banks.

The Darley family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday, July 4th from 11:00am until 9:00pm.
