Beatrice Hazel Newman

Mrs. Beatrice Hazel Newman, age 76 of Chatsworth, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Murray Medical Center. She was born in Gordon County on May 15, 1932, daughter of the late Henry Pack and Thaley Cronan Pack. Mrs. Newman was retired from R & R Textiles, and was a member of Gospelway Baptist Church in Dalton.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bud Pack, Travis Pack, and Jim Pack; a sister, Lois McCurdy, and a brother-in-law, Clyde Bingham.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Paul R. Newman; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Cindy Bingham of Dalton; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Gary Johnson of Chatsworth; three brothers, Cecil Pack of Ranger, Gary Pack of California, and Jerry Pack and his wife Nicki of New Mexico; and three sisters, Juanita Wilkins and her husband Bob of Nevada, Betty Bingham of Chatsworth, and Helen Costillo and her husband Amillo of California. Four grandchildren, Tabatha Johnson, Chris Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, and Tara Bingham; and five great-grandchildren, Cody Wooden, Drake Wooden, Austin Johnson, Ashton Johnson, and Lidiah Marie Johnson also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice Hazel Newman will be conducted Wednesday, February 25 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Beach officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Ranger. Active pallbearers will include Mitchell McCurdy, Kyle Paulk, Michael McCurdy, Marvin Pack, Chris Pack, and Stephen Jackson. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
