Mrs. Beatrice Wright Bowman, 87 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, February 04, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her children. She was born on October 7, 1928, daughter of the late Burton Thomas and Mabel Franklin Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Dewitt (A.D.) Bowman on October 26, 2015; her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Bowman Long and David Long; brothers and sisters, Ruth Samples, Estelle Shope, Roy Wright, Doyle Wright, and J.B. Wright; and a great-granddaughter, Carson Sampson.
Mrs. Bowman was a self-employed hairdresser until her retirement. She was a member of the Gideon Auxiliary and a Farm Bureau board member. She was a charter member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, and was a choir member and Sunday School teacher for a number of years.
She leaves behind her children, Rev. Gary Bowman and his wife Margaret, Joel Bowman and his wife Vicki, and Donald Bowman and his wife Jane, all of Calhoun; grandchildren, Greg and Tonya Bowman, Allison Bowman, Hope and John Sampson, Joy and Michael Renfro, Jordan and Alison Bowman, Kim and Todd Kramer, Katrina and Adam Roland, Levi and Kim Bowman, and Jesse and Kayla Bowman; and great-grandchildren, Kendall and Lindsay Bowman, Carter and Carden Sampson, Jack and Henry Renfro, Aiden Roland, Kate Kramer, and Lexi Beth and Libby Bowman. A sister, Betty Knight; a brother and sister-in-law, Hoyle and Barbara Wright; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services to honor the life of Mrs. Beatrice Wright Bowman will be held Sunday, February 7th at 3:00 PM from Philadelphia Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim McCulley and Rev. Gary Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers and will include Donald, Levi, Jesse, Joel, Jordan, Gary, Greg, John, Todd, Adam, and Michael.
The Bowman family will receive friends at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 358 Hensley Road, Calhoun, on Saturday, February 6th from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers, and especially hospice nurse Jerrie McDougle, for their special care of Mrs. Bowman.
Flowers are being accepted, or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 300 W. Emery St., Dalton GA, 30720, in memory of her husband, A.D.
