Benson Gavin Crump

Mr. Benson Gavin Crump, 49 of Calhoun, died Thursday, October 1, 2015. He was born on July 5, 1966 in Floyd County, son of Carl Crump and the late Sarah Sanders Crump.

He is survived by his father, Carl Crump, two sisters, Vee Vee Reilly of Acworth, GA, and Tammy Trammell of Nahunta, GA; a niece, Macy Hall of Acworth, GA; and nephews, Daylan Hall of Acworth and Chaz Trammell.

Gavin was a member of the 1985 graduating class of Calhoun High School, where he excelled in sports. He was quarterback for the 1984 Jacket football season and a pitcher and first baseman on the baseball team. He was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan.

A memorial service to honor Gavin's life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at 4:00 pm, from Blackwood Springs Baptist Church. A eulogy will be given by Stevie Robbins and Rodney Barnette. Daylan Hall will serve as pallbearer. Honorary pallbearers will be all Gavin's' buddies. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm prior to the service. It was Gavin's wish to be cremated, and be buried next to his mother at Fain Cemetery.
