Obituary

Carl Bernard Shugart, 79, of Resaca, died Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Gordon Health Care. He was born in Gordon County on April 8, 1938, son of the late Carl A. "Top" Shugart and the late Eva M. Fuller Shugart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Glenda Lomax; and a grandson, Dylan Shugart.
Mr. Shugart was a life-long resident of Gordon County, retiring from World Carpets. He served in the National Guard from 1954 until 1976, and was an active member of Russell Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jill Thomas Shugart; his sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Debbie Shugart of Castalia, NC, and Jerry and Tammy Shugart of Resaca; his daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Oscar Campbell of Calhoun; grandchildren, Dustan Shugart, Drew Campbell, and Megan Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Knox Campbell, Rori Shugart, and Leila Shugart.
Services to honor the life of Carl Bernard Shugart will be held Sunday, January 28th at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Gary Shugart and Tony Coggins officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will include Dustan Shugart, Drew Campbell, Chris Parker, Kelly Parker, Blake Hilley, and Bo Dooley. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Parker, Bill Brown, and Ronald Fuquea.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 27th, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
