Mrs. Bertha Edmondson Atkins, age 89 of Kennesaw, passed away Saturday, October 3rd, 2009. She was born in Rydal, GA on January 13, 1920, daughter of the late Lee and Hattie Fowler Edmondson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Calvin Atkins; two daughters, Bobbie Jo Popham and Gail Buice; two brothers, Bud and Minuard Edmondson; and three sisters, Geneva Worley, Ellie Thurman, and Bessie Pettett.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Atkins was a homemaker, and was a member of the Mount Olivett Baptist Church in Acworth.

Survivors include a sister, Ruthel Crawford; a son, Harold Atkins, both of Kennesaw; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Local survivors include Max and Gentle Lee Brannon, and J.D. and Ann Pettett, all of Calhoun.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Edmondson Atkins will be conducted Tuesday, October 6th at 11:00am from the chapel of Winkenhofer-Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, with Rev. Neil Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Calhoun.

The family will receive friends at Winkenhofer-Pine Ridge Funeral Home Monday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Online condolences may be expressed and the guestbook signed at www.maxbrannonandsons.com.
