Mrs. Bessie Hales, age 83 of Resaca, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Calhoun Health Care following several months of declining health. She was born in Jasper, Georgia on July 30, 1925, daughter of the late Jim Virgil Stanfield and the late Stella Mae Shipman Stanfield. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Doil Stanfield; and three sisters, Beatrice Parker, Betty Mullins, and Daisy Dean.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Travis Eugene Hales; a son, Donald Hales of Resaca; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Debra Stanfield; two sisters, Kathy Lott and her husband Jasper, and Louise Madon; grandsons, Josh Hales and his wife Scarlett of Resaca, and Brandon Taylor and his wife Marla of Chatsworth; and a granddaughter, Tracy Jackson of Calhoun. Grandchildren, Joshua, Jaycee, and Justin Hales, Tyler and Chase Barnhart, Aizik and Emily Taylor, and twenty-seven nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Hales will be conducted Friday at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ernest Channell, Rev. Larry Hayes, and Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Clint Putnam, Sam Barnhart, Tyler Barnhart, Bobby Banks, Ken Talley, and Joey Davis. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Friday at 2:15pm. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
