Mrs. Betty Fricks Luckett, age 81 of Calhoun, GA peacefully went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 15, 2013 following several weeks of declining health.
She was born on November 5, 1931 in Tate, GA to the late Charlie and Alma Thomas Fricks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James H. Luckett in 2005; five brothers, Bo Fricks, Bill Fricks, Francis Fricks, and Joe Fricks, all of Rome, GA, and Ben Fricks of Bridgeport, CT; and two sisters, Patsy Chandler of Thomasville, GA and Jane Brown of Atlanta.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. She loved the Lord and was a fine example of a true Christian. She was a homemaker, and supported her husbands ministry during his pastoral years.
Betty was a member of Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church in Dalton, and had attended South Calhoun Baptist Church since moving to Calhoun.
She leaves behind three sons, Jim Luckett and his wife Nancy of Calhoun, Paul Luckett and his wife Martha of Baton Rouge, LA, and Mark Luckett of Chattanooga, TN; a daughter, Terry Thompson and her husband J.T. of Lafayette, GA; grandchildren, Amy Padgett and her husband Brian of Calhoun, Ryan Luckett and his wife Kathryn of Woodstock, GA, Dana Dyer and her husband Chris of Dacula, GA, Jessica Traylor and her husband Jason of Lafayette, Brad Duckett of Atlanta, Scott Duckett and his wife Monica of Chatsworth, and Savannah Luckett of Chattanooga; and great-grandchildren, Chandler Padgett, Connor Padgett, Ashley Padgett, Carter Luckett, Brooks Luckett, Chance Dyer, and Madi Dyer. Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Nancy Faith Luckett of Calhoun; a brother-in-law, James Chandler and his wife Maurice of Thomasville, GA; and close friend, Clara King of Calhoun. A host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives also survive.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Betty Fricks Luckett will be held Thursday, April 18th at 2:00pm from the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church, 2550 South Bypass, Dalton, GA, with Rev. Ronald Guffey, Rev. Gary Bowman, and Rev. Jimmy Faith officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, 2549 Shorter Avenue, Rome, GA. Active pallbearers will include J.T. Thompson, Chandler Padgett, Jason Traylor, Brian Padgett, Ryan Luckett, Chris Dyer, Chance Dyer, Brad Duckett, and Scott Duckett. Honorary pallbearers are Ernie and Liz Erwin, Bobby and Joan Dodd, Gerald and Ann Mashburn, Randy and Tammy Balliew, Marvin King, Phil Mason, and Chuck Albertson.
The Luckett family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, 705 Old Red Bud Road, Calhoun, GA on Wednesday, April 17th from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and support personnel at Redmond Regional Medical Center for their excellent care during Bettys stay, especially the nurses in ICU East and on the third floor.
