Mrs. Betty Hensley Taggart, 62 of Calhoun, died Monday, June 22, 2015 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Gordon County on August 23, 1952, daughter of the late Mark and Annie Hensley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Head, and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Allen.

Betty loved her family. She treasured her pets, and loved all animals. She began decorating for Christmas long before the weather turned cold. Betty was named Ms. Wheelchair Georgia in 1993-1994, and had appeared twice on the ABC TV show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"?

She leaves behind her husband, David Taggart, to whom she married on August 16, 1994; her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Brian Carden of Calhoun; her brothers, Danny Hensley and his wife Marlene, and Daryl Hensley, all of Calhoun; her sisters, Kathryn Allen of Plainville, and Theresa Burnette and her husband Glenn of Rome; her brother-in-law, Richard Head of Lindale; and grandchildren, Lawson, Jarrett, Laine, and Jhett Carden.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Betty Hensley Taggart will be held Thursday, June 25th at 4:00 PM from Trinity Baptist Church, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Music will be arranged by Cameron Abney and Richie Parker. The body will lie in state at the church from 3:00 PM until the service hour.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday, June 24th from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
