Mrs. Betty Jean Brannon, age 73, of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007, at her residence following several months of declining health. She was born in Baxley, GA February 3, 1934, daughter of the late Greir and Betty Holden Reynolds. Mrs. Brannon retired from Mohawk Industries in 1995, and loved keeping her great-grandchildren and baking for them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Billy Brannon; a son, "Chubby" Brannon; three brothers, Robert, Wayne, and Ronnie Reynolds; a sister, Wanda Gladdin, and one great-grandson, Nathanial Ledford.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; Lee and Delores Brannon of Ranger, and Mike and Donna Brannon of Goose Creek, SC; one daughter and son-in-law; Jackie and Julian Jones of Calhoun; one brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Judy Reynolds of Murray County. Grandchildren; Jason Brannon, Felicia Ledford, Justin Brannon, Chad Harkins, Kathryn Cantrell, Corey Young, Jennifer Hicks, and Becky Mallon. Ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Brannon will be conducted Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Robert Wages, Sammy Oliver, Glen Stanley, Don Cochran, Bruce Mealor, and Randall Woody. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 1:15pm. Honorary pallbearers will include Mike Smith, Delmar Garner, Bobby Gentry, James Reed, Richard Pulliam, Max Brannon, and Dr. Katherine Naymick. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday after 4:00pm.
