Mrs. Betty Jean Parker Gillespie, age 69 of Stone Mountain, GA passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010 at DeKalb Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born in Gordon County on October 6, 1940, daughter of the late Milton and Anna Bell Stroud Parker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert James Gillespie. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include five sons and three daughters; and three brothers, Charles Parker, Eddie Lee Parker, and Jimmy Parker, all of Calhoun. Eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a special caregiver, Authrene Timmons, also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jean Parker Gillespie will be conducted Saturday, January 16th at 12:00 noon from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Keith Reid officiating. Interment will follow in the New Zion Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Jeremy Dampier, Daniel Rhodes, Daryl Adcock, Ricky E. Smith, Joey Fowler, and Jerry Goforth, Sr. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 11:15am.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 10:00am until the funeral hour.
