Mrs. Betty Wright Knight, 92, a long-time resident of the Red Bud Community, departed this life and went to be with her Savior & Lord on Sunday, March 10, 2024, after a brief period of declining health.
Mrs. Knight was born in Bartow County, Georgia, on June 4, 1931, the daughter of the late Burton Thomas Wright and Luthelle Franklin Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton McClain Knight Jr in 2007; daughter-in-law, Sandra Knight in 2022; siblings, Ruthelle Samples, Roy Lawrene Wright, Estelle Shope, Beatrice Bowman, Doyle Wright, Hoyle Wright and infant brother, James Burton Wright.
She was a graduate of Belwood School where she played basketball, her family said that she was a gardener born with a green thumb, loved to work outdoors, a very selfless person with a servant spirit and will always be remembered by her delicious Pound Cake. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church and always willing to do whatever was needed, and was a member of the Sisters in Christ and Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her son, Milton McClain (Mac) Knight III and his wife Lou Ann; grandchildren, Traci & Bryan Phipps, Lisa and Dewayne Wood, Kevin and Angie Knight, Chris and Brooke Knight; Bonus grandchildren, Chelsea and Patrick Hade, Anthony Pope and Amy Pelzek, Evan Pope and Kyana Patino; great-grandchildren, Hannah Knight, Ryan Harris, Daniel Roberson, Hailey Roberson, Owen Knight, McLain Knight and Jaxten Romine, Kristin Sneed, Brett Sneed, Cody Wood, Darryl and Christina Brown and two great-great-grandchildren, Addy Brown and Ripley Kay Aspen Sneed; special niece, Martha; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A service to celebrate the life of Betty Wright Knight will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM from Bethesda Baptist Church with Pastor Wesley Hunt and Rev. Gary Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Chris Knight, Kevin Knight, Owen Knight, Dewayne Wood, J.D. Rogers Jr, Terry Hopper, and Cody Wood. Honorary pallbearers will include the Sisters in Christ and Ladies Adult Sunday School Class of Bethesda Baptist Church, Donald Bowman, and Terry Wright.
The family will receive friends at Bethesda Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 13th beginning at 11:00 am until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM.
