Obituary

Betty Nicholson Broom, 89, of Rockmart, formerly of the New Town Community, Calhoun, died Friday, April 9, 2021 in Cedar Valley Health and Rehab following an extended period of declining health.
Betty was born in Gordon County, Georgia on June 28, 1931, daughter of the late Columbus and Ila Godfrey Hudgins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Felton Nicholson in 1977; her husband, Robert Broom; and her brother, George C. Hudgins. She worked in the textile industry for many years and later retired from Fafnir Bearing Inc and she was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Rockmart, GA.
Survivors include her daughters, Sharon Harrell and Lisa (Stan) McNeese of Calhoun and son, Tony Nicholson of Calhoun; step daughters, Tressie (Brad) Wilson and Tara (Greg) Wilson; grandchildren, Jana (John) Lee, Mitch Harrell, Anthony Nicholson, Katie (Kirk) Woody, Tyler McNeese, Montana Wilson and Paige (Jason) Purser; great-grandchildren, Daisy Grace Lee, Alex Lee, Kaestin Woody, Norah Woody, Loren Purser, Joanna Purser and Ada Purser along with other relatives.
A service to celebrate the life of Betty Nicholson Broom will be held Monday, April 12th at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include, Mitch Harrell, John Lee, Tyler McNeese, Anthony Nicholson, and Tim Duvall.
The family will receive friends on Monday prior to the service between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
