Betty Owens

Mrs. Betty Ruth Howell Owens, 81, of Calhoun, died at her home on Saturday, August 19, 2017, following several years of declining health; she was surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Dalton on November 17, 1935; she was the daughter of the late Hershel and Ethel Howell. Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of more than fifty three years, Alfred Owens, in 2006; her sisters, Shelba Kivitz and Brenda Lock.
Betty is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Jerry Chapman, Yvonne and Harry Dobbins, Paula and Kevin Rush, and Jennifer and Tim ODonald; her brothers and sister-in-law, Charles Howell, Mike and Cleta Howell, and Wade Howell; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Doug Burnette, Gail and Cliff Harris; her grandchildren, April Barr, Robert Dobbins, Donna Mitch, Sarah Boswell, Zachary Rush, Kathleen ODonald, Anna Lowery, Jesse ODonald, Jeremy ODonald, Emily ODonald, and Jameson ODonald; her great-grandchildren, Taylor Dobbins, Gabriel Caudill, Amy Mitch, Allison Mitch, Jacob Caudill, Riley Dobbins, Connor Dobbins, Ruby Boswell, Peyton Boswell, Leyla Boswell, Nora Barr, Liam Boswell, and Breese Mitch; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The Owens family will receive friends on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. from Concord Baptist Church. Bro. Sammy Allen and Bro. Tim ODonald will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Bro. Stinnett Ballew officiating at the graveside. Her grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
