Betty Timms Burton

Mrs. Betty Timms Burton, age 76 of Calhoun, departed this life early Friday morning, November 15, 2013 at her residence following several years of declining health.

Betty was born in Calhoun on November 1, 1937, a daughter of the late John Arthur and Beulah Shepherd Timms. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen D. Burton Millsap; and three brothers, John W. Timms, Herman Timms, and Herbert Timms.

Prior to her retirement she was employed by Calhoun Wal-Mart as Personnel Manager.

Mrs. Burton is survived by her husband, Charles Burton, to whom she was married for 58 years; a son, Charles A. Burton and his wife Lara of Ranger; four sisters, Lucille Hall of Adairsville, Mary Jones of Calhoun, Hazel Burnette of Brooks, GA and Margie Dutton of Adairsville; two brothers, David Timms of Resaca, and Aaron Timms of Calhoun; grandchildren, Shanna Greeson and her husband Mark of Chatsworth, and Patricia Shugart and her husband Dustan of Calhoun; and great-grandchildren, Rebekah Karen Greeson, Evelyn Abigail Greeson and Aurora Elise Shugart. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Betty Timms Burton will be held Sunday, November 17th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include, Alan Jones, Randy Hall, Eric Hall, Jason Timms, Keith Timms and Joel Timms.

The Burton family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday.
