Mrs. Betty Wofford Carver, age 67 of Calhoun, died Monday, July 4, 2011 at her residence following several years of declining health. She was born in Pickens County on January 8, 1944, daughter of the late Henry and Rosa Goode Wofford. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Arvil Wofford, George Wofford, and Houston Wofford; and a sister, Ivy Newberry.
Mrs. Carver was a homemaker during her lifetime, and a member of the Hinton Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Troy Wayne Carver of the residence; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Jason Jaco of Calhoun; a brother, James Wofford of Yellow Creek, GA; two sisters, Patsy Roper of Yellow Creek, and Jane Pritchett of Jasper, GA; a grandson, Jordan Tanner Jaco; and step-grandchildren, Hannah Jaco, Taylor Jaco, Jared Jaco, and Jada Jaco. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Wofford Carver will be held Wednesday, July 6th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Gene Childers, Rev. Eddie Brannon, and Rev. Kenny Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Hinton Community Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Trenton Roper, Barry Roper, Joey Strickland, Tony Watson, David Carver, and Howard Carver. Honorary pallbearers are Lane Strickland and Alec Strickland.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
