Rev. William Hubert "Bill" Kelly, age 81 of Calhoun, GA, died Friday, August 2, 2013 at his residence following several years of declining health. He was born in Hartford, AL on November 15, 1931, son of the late Hubert and Annie Laurie Shaw Kelly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Shirley Jean Rose Kelly in 1997.
Rev. Kelly graduated from Florida State University with a Master's degree, played on the FSU football team, and belongs to Sigma Chi Fraternity. He obtained a degree in Theology from Denver Seminary. He lived in Marietta, GA for 20 years prior to relocating to Cheyenne, WY, where he was ordained, and pastored the Cheyenne First Baptist Church for three years. He was a Microbiologist and Professor at Emory University, and had retired as a Sales Consultant for Roche Instrument Company. He was a member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church in Geneva, AL, and had resided in Calhoun for the past 10 years.
Rev. Kelly is survived by his wife, Rebecca Anne Fazenbaker Kelly of the residence; a son, Stephen Stickley and his wife Lisa of Pittsburgh, PA; two daughters, Jennifer Phillips and her husband Patrick of Hixon, TN, and Ronna Case of Pittsburgh; a brother, Richard Kelly and his wife Teri of Lantana, FL; two sisters, Patricia Keen and her husband John of Geneva, AL, and Virginia Poynter and her husband Al of Lake Worth, FL; and two grandchildren, Dillon Stickley of Pittsburgh, and Jordan Mellon of Hixon. .
A private entombment service will be held Monday, August 5th at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta.
