Bill Walraven

Mr. William (Bill) Walraven, age 79, a well known Calhoun businessman, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in Gordon Hospital following several months declining health. Mr. Walraven was born in Gordon County, GA on August 2, 1933, son of the late Joe and Mary Griffin Walraven. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Delores Hammon Walraven in 1988; a son-in-law, Alan Weaver in 2004; three sisters, Ruby Evans, Myrtle Plott and Bessie Faith; and six brothers, Frank Walraven, Claude Walraven, Roy Walraven, Carlton Walraven, Ernest Walraven and Fred Walraven.

Prior to his retirement Bill was in the real estate business for many years. He attended Red Bud High School, and after gradutation in 1953 served for four years in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.

Mr. Walraven is survived by his wife, Theresia McDearis Walraven; four daughters, Nancy Weaver of Calhoun, Teresa Rogers of Calhoun, Tammy Pasley of Fairmount, and Angela Walraven of Calhoun; three sons, Brent Walraven and his wife Sharon of Chatsworth, Barry Walraven of Calhoun, and Tim Walraven and his wife Shea of Fairmount; a sister, Bertha Mae Holcomb of Resaca; and a brother, Otto Walraven and his wife Dorothy of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Allison Weaver Volek and her husband Lennie, Caleb Weaver and his wife Jada, Nathan Weaver and his wife Carly, Kristin Rogers Holbert and her husband Chuck, Kelli Rogers, Amanda Bates, Wil Walraven, Brynley Walraven, Ella Walraven, Morgan Pasley, Meleigha Pasley, Austin Pasley, Raven Pasley, Brett Walraven, Bree Walraven, and Kenzie Walraven. Great- grandchildren are Larkyn Crocker and Lana Volek. Several neices, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. William (Bill) Walraven will be conducted Friday, May 24th at 2:00 PM from Crane Eater Community Church, with Rev. Terry Timms and Mr. Blake Putnam officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Red Bud. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Sportsman Sunday School Class of Belmont Baptist Church, along with Levi Walker, Billy Weaver, Stanley Simpson, Estes Pass, Frank Seabolt Sr., Marvin McBee, Eddie Pack, Frank Campbell, David Hall, Edsel Robbins, Freddie Faith, Dr. John Allen, Thomas Pierce, and Martin Horner. These gentlemen are asked to assemble at Crane Eater Community Church at 1:30 PM Friday.

The Walraven family will receive friends at Crane Eater Community Church Thursday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
