Bill Wilkey

Mr. William O. "Bill" Wilkey, Jr., age 81 of Adairsville, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 following several months of declining health. He was born in Bartow County on July 5, 1929, son of the late William and Stella Wilkey. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Wilkey in 1987; a son, Ricky Wilkey in 2003; a grandson, Kurt Bishop in 2007; brothers, C.B. Wilkey and Dale Wilkey; and sisters, Frances Mincey, Ruby Kirby, Nina Chastain, Mae Bell Bunch, and Mildred Wallace.

Mr. Wilkey retired in 1991 after being employed by the Raymond King Construction Company for 35 years.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Ralph Bishop of Rome; grandchildren, Misty Rigas, Rusty Bishop, and Jeff Bishop, all of Rome, Davis Wilkey of Bethlehem, GA, and Trent Wilkey of Adairsville; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sophie Drake of Rome, Bryson and Maddox Wilkey of Bethlehem, and Cole and Evie Bishop of Rome; and a very special friend and companion, Artie Guffie.

Funeral services for Mr. William O. "Bill" Wilkey will be conducted Monday, February 21st at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Branton officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery in Adairsville. Active pallbearers will include Rusty Bishop, Jeff Bishop, Davis Wilkey, Trent Wilkey, Kevin Wilkey, and Monte Wilkey.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday morning from 9:00am until the funeral hour of 11:00am.
