Billy Gene Quarles, 81, of Resaca, died at his home on Friday, October 28, 2016, following several months of declining health. Billy was born in Bartow County on June 19, 1935; he was the son of the late William Emory and Mamie Townsend Quarles. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Ruth Stansell Quarles, in 2012; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Consalee Quarles, Harold and Mabel Quarles, Joe Quarles, Kathy Quarles; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Doug Self, Daphner Sue Blasengame, Jewel and Charles Bohannon, Roy Gulledge, and Preston Bohannon. Billy was retired from Quality Finishers. He was a Deacon and charter Member of Boone Ford Baptist Church. He was also one of the founders of Boone Ford Baptist Church.
Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Lisa Quarles; his daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Jose Rivas, Angela Kamami, and Mamie and Randy Long; his brother, Norman Quarles; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn Bohannon Ray and her husband, Allen, Wilma and James Reed, Brenda and Larry Bohannon, Jane Townsend, and Elaine Thomas; his sister-in-law, Dot Quarles; his grandchildren., William Quarles, Benjamin Newport and Elizabeth Akens, Jessica and Eddie Owens, Zachary and MacCaelaa Goswick, Cody Newport and Ashley Cole, Brandi Long, Melessio Quarles, Katie Quarles, Magdalena Quarles, Dakota Quarles; his great-grandchildren, Madyson Owens, Sebastin Goswick, Kylee Newport, Westen Goswick, Emberlynn Goswick, Emelia Owens, Kaylee Newport, and Ezekiel Quarles; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The Quarles family will receive friends on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Boone Ford Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from Boone Ford Baptist Church. Rev. Marvin Carr, Rev. Gary Quarles, and Rev. Vincent Gulledge will officiate. Burial will follow at Salacoa Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rickey Blassengame, Barry Quarles, Jeff Quarles, Ross Quarles, Bobby Reed, Jonathon Gulledge, Benjamin Newport, Ray Samuel, and Cody Newport.
