Obituary

Billy Joe Chastain, 78, of Calhoun, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at his home, following several years of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on June 17, 1940, son of the late Vester and Estell Craig Chastain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patsy Haygood Chastain; his daughter, Morgana Chastain; and his brother, Larry Chastain.
Billy was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Timmy Chastain (Stacy Whitfield); his daughter and son-in-law, Martie and David Brackett; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Faye Chastain; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and James Teague, Mae and Larry Smith, and Linda and Mike Hudson; his grandchildren, Andrew Chastain, Brody Boswell, Mahala Brackett, Taylor Brackett, Keegan Brackett, Kooper Brackett, and Chastin Brackett; and his great-grandchild, Davinee Daniel.
Services to honor the life of Billy Joe Chastain will be held Wednesday, May 29th at 2:00 PM from Plainview Baptist Church, with Rev. Ronald Goss and Rev. David Brackett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Brody Boswell, Andrew Chastain, Justin Henderson, Brandon Goss, Mitchell Chastain, and Jerry Teague. Honorary pallbearers are Chastin Brackett, Keegan Brackett, and Kooper Brackett.
The family will receive friends at Plainview Baptist Church on Wednesday, from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
