Billy Joe Greeson

Mr. Billy Joe Greeson, 74 of Calhoun, died Sunday, January 1, 2017. He was born in Gordon County on May 12, 1942, son of the late Robert Lee Greeson and Lizzie Allen Greeson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, C.L. Greeson, Dwight Greeson, and Blanche Fair.
Mr. Greeson was a member of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. After his nine year stint in the military, he farmed for many years and prior to his retirement he was a driver and co-owner of G.and G. Trucking.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Bunch Greeson; a son, Greg Greeson and his wife Karen of Norman Park, GA; a daughter, Vikki Greeson of Calhoun, GA ; a brother, Hansel Greeson and his wife Pat of Cocoa, FL; a sister, Margaret Cantrell of Goodlettesville, TN; grandchildren, Emily Reece and Jimmy of Sugar Valley, GA, Ty Greeson and Megan Greeson of Norman Park, GA, Alissa Greeson and Jill Bridges of Calhoun, GA; great grandchildren, Addy Mae Reece and Lane Reece of Sugar Valley, GA.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Blackwood Springs Baptist Church, with Rev. Aaron Jones, Rev. Travis Hyde, and Rev. Paul Whitton officiating. Interment will follow at Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Naval Honors. Pallbearers serving include; Jimmy Cantrell, Steve Cantrell, Ricky Greeson, Eddie Fair, Bobby Greeson and Eric Worley. Honorary pallbearers include; Tommy Greeson, Rocky Fair, Brian Worley, Steve Smith, Michael Smith and Bo. Richardson. Mr. Greeson will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 2:00 p.m.
The Greeson family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3rd from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
