Mr. Billy Joe Wilkey, age 57 of Plainville, GA passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at his residence following several years of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on December 7, 1956, son of the late Jack Wilkey and the late Mammie Jo Bowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Wilkey.
Billy was self-employed in the construction industry. He was a member of Plainville Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Jenny Monteith of Plainville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony and Diane Wilkey of Plainville, and Bobby and Ann McEntire of Calhoun; a sister-in-law, Debbie Wilkey of Plainville; a grandchild, Olivia Monteith; and step-father, Ralph Bowman. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Billy Joe Wilkey will be held Thursday, March 27th at 12:00 noon from Plainville Church of God of Prophecy, with Bro. Jerry Gaddis and Bro. Joseph Wilkey officiating. Interment will follow in Scott Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include L.E. Parks, Thomas Parks, Jason Rogers, Clifton Morgan, Toby Holland, and Scott Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Gravitt, Jim Fowler, Tony Gravitt, Ronnie Cannon, Randall Payne, and Gene McEntire.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
