Mr. Billy Ray Dixon, a well known resident of Gordon County, died August 3, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Dixon was born in Gordon County on December 20, 1951, son of the late John and Pauline Balliew Dixon. He was a grading contractor, having owned and operated Billy Dixon Construction, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Dixon and Johnny Dixon.

Survivors include his wife, Gale Dean Dixon, to whom he was married for 40 years; a son, Nathan Dixon and his wife Cynthia of Resaca; a daughter, Crystal Dixon of Calhoun; a brother, Arnold Dixon and his wife Jo of Dalton; two sisters, Reba Banks and her husband Jimmy of Calhoun, and Sylvia Mulkey and her husband Donald of Calhoun; two sisters-in law, Bobby Dixon and Joyce Dixon of Dalton; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda D. and Terry Rogers. Five grandchildren, Raylan Bolt, Ashley Jackson, Avery Dixon, Abram Dixon and Isaiah Jackson; mother-in-law, Johnnie Dean; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Ray Dixon will be held Saturday, August 6th at 3:00PM from White Graves Baptist Church, with Rev. Eddie Brannon, Rev. Sammy Allen, and Rev. Isaac Johns officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot at Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers serving include Ray Landress, Chuck Allen, Terry Rogers, Terry Mulkey, Robert Hurd, John L. Dixon, Isaiah Jackson and Drew Calloway. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Empty Pockets Car Club, Burl Wilson, Richard Craig, Terry Balliew, Junior Brackett, Kevin Allen, David Vaughn, Thomas Parks and Bruce Hurd.

The Dixon Family will receive friends Friday between the hours of 4:00PM until 9:00PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed and the guest book signed at maxbrannonandsons.com
