Billy Smith

Mr. Billy Smith, age 82 of Calhoun, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Hamilton Medical Center. He was born in Gordon County on October 19, 1928, son of the late Hoke and Ruth Greeson Smith. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia DeFoor Smith; a son, Steve Smith; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Doris Smith; and a sister, Margaret Talley.

Mr. Smith was retired from Lockheed-Martin as a Department Manager.

Survivors include two daughters, Jane Ridley and her husband Ronnie, and Janet Smith Penney and her husband David, all of Calhoun; a sister, Johnnie Chatham of Newnan; grandchildren, Makala and Dawson Penney, Nikki Ridley, and Derek Smith and his wife Stephanie; and a great-grandchild, Logan Smith. Other survivors include a brother-in-law, Ray Talley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Jack Silvers of Calhoun, Albert (Snooks) and Rita DeFoor of Chatsworth, and Kenneth (Bo) and Jo DeFoor of Ooltawah, TN. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Smith will be conducted Saturday, February 19th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Michael Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers are Tommy DeFoor, Tony DeFoor, Kenny DeFoor, Kevin DeFoor, Roy Mears, and Keith Bunch.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
