Billy Talley

Mr. Charles William "Billy" Talley, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 following a brief illness. He was born in Gordon County on October 19, 1932, son of the late Joe and Bonnie Fuller Talley, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Edna Talley in 2011.

Mr. Talley was retired from the textile industry, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army, and was a member of the local V.F.W. and American Legion.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Denise Talley of Calhoun; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Tommy Walden of Chatsworth, Lanita and Steve Cagle of Calhoun, Kita and Dickie Bone of Calhoun, and Belina and Dan Bramblett of Calhoun; a brother, Howard Talley of Calhoun; and a sister, Barbara Scott of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Leah Browning, Alex Browning, Josh Bone, Seth Bone, Allison Hall, Griffin Bramblett, Daniele Bramblett, Bryan Kirby, Barry Kirby, Ryan Talley, Slade Talley, Zoey Talley, Amber Nabors, and Stephanie Nabors; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Kirby, Shay Browning, Lillie Hall, Will Hall, and Asa Bone. Nieces, nephews, a special friend, Mary Ann Brock, Billy's beloved dog Sadie Mae, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles William "Billy" Talley will be held Thursday, February 16th at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Clinton Green and Rev. Brent Davis officiating. Music will be arranged by Eric Bohannon and Ricky Nix. Pallbearers include Tom Francis, Bob Bates, Don Lowe, Ira Rich, Marvin Garner, and Larry Raffield. Interment with military honors will follow the service in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be members of the V.F.W Post 5376, and honorary pallbearers are members of the American Legion Post 47.

The Talley family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Talley's name to the American Cancer Society, 200 W. Emory St., Ste. 3, Dalton, GA 30720.
