Mr. Billy Wayne Black, age 83, died Saturday February 8, 2014 in Redmond Regional Medical Center after several weeks declining health.

Billy was born in Gordon County on July 23, 1930, son of the late Conway and Neta McBee Black. He was a lifelong painter, and continued to work until Christmas 2013. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved to spend time with them outdoors, camping and sitting on the back porch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Black in 1991; and a sister, Johnnie McNeese and her husband Odie.

He leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Judy Black of Calhoun; grandchildren, Tyron Black and his wife Haley, and Tiffany Black Rigney and her husband Eric, all of Calhoun; great-grandchildren, MeriKathryn, Jacob and Abby Black, and Maria, Logan, Isla and Brooks Rigney, all of Calhoun; two sisters, Claudine Smith of Calhoun, and Sandy Reese and her husband Gary of Calhoun; and a brother, Jimmy Black and his wife Tracey of Calhoun.

The family of Billy Wayne Black will receive friends Sunday, February 9th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Calhoun Church of Christ, 1301 Dews Pond Road, Calhoun.

Funeral services for Billy Wayne Black will be conducted Monday, February 10th at 4:00 PM from the Calhoun Church of Christ, with Dr. Bert Vaughn and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers serving include Trevor Black, Conner Black, Stan McNeese, Kem McNeese, Brandon Reese and Bill Crowe. These gentlemen are asked to be at the church at 3:15 PM Monday. Honorary pallbearers are Dwight Walraven, Milton Stewart, Marvin Mashburn, Randy Johns, Gerald Mashburn, Max Mashburn, Don Godfrey, David Causby, Jimmy Mashburn, Bill Price and Russ Edwards. These gentlemen are asked to assemble at the church at 3:30 PM Monday.
