Blanche Virginia Spurling

Mrs. Blanche Virginia Spurling, age 69 of Acworth, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Cobb General Hospital following a brief illness.

Mrs. Spurling was born on July 31, 1938 in Fairmount, daughter of the late Pless and Zola Walker Thurman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Karen Sue Childers, and Rosa Gail Thurman, and by two brothers, Talmadge Thurman and Paul Thurman. Mrs. Spurling was employed by Lockheed-Georgia Aircraft Corporation for 42 years, and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church near Pine Log.

Survivors are a daughter, Pamela Simpson and her husband Robert, of Marietta; one son, Joel White and his wife Rasheedah, of Marietta; sisters, Lois Johnson of Ranger, Dorothy Phillips of Raleigh, NC, Sheila Childers, Vera Childers, Ilien Flynn and Maxine Parker, all of Fairmount, and Linda Pulliam of McCaysville; three brothers, Danny Thurman of Calhoun, and Max Thurman and Rembert Thurman, both of Fairmount. Five grandchildren, Justin Ellison, Steven Simpson, Andrea Simpson, Amir White and Khareem White, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blanche Virginia Spurling will be conducted Monday at 2:00pm from the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church near Pine Log, with Rev. Jerry Cowart officiating. Mrs. Spurling will lie in state at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Singing will be arranged by Mr. Alan Moss. Pallbearers serving will include Dale Priest, Doug Childers, Chris Childers, Steven Simpson, Amir White, Tim Nash, Bernie Flynn, Matthew Johnson, Mark Gregson and Aaron Gregson. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday evening, after 6:00pm.
