Bob Garland

Mr. Sanford Bob Garland, age 89 of Cumming, Georgia and formerly of Gordon County, passed away, Monday, March 22, 2010 at Embracing Hospice following an extended illness.

Mr. Garland was born on May 5, 1920 in Cherokee County, Georgia, son of the late George H. and Maggie Cantrell Garland. During his lifetime, he was employed as a Security Guard for Carriage Carpets, and was of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Blosie Skinner Garland. The mother of his children, Rosa Silvers Garland preceded him in death. Children surving include Hermon Garland of Centre, Alabama. Jimmy Garland of Plainville, Lois Welchel and Linda Barber, both of Plainville, and Doris Southerland of Dalton. Grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Sanford Bob Garland will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Terry Garrett officiating. Singing will be arranged by Mrs. Sally Jones. Active pallbearers serving will include Don Garland, Clyde Garland, Von Garland, Mitch Sorrells, Larry Garland and Eric Barber. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Dennis Garland, Roy Garland and Leonard Potts. Interment will follow the service in the Scott Cemetery at Plainville. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Tuesday evening during the hours of 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
