Bob John, 80, a lifelong resident of Gordon County, passed away peacefully at his residence following a brief illness.

Bob was born in Gordon County on February 1, 1944, the son of the late Jimmy Johns Sr. and Johnnie Faye Harrison Johns. He attended Red Bud School, and before retirement, he was employed by Beaulieu Carpets for 40-plus years. He was a member of the Loyal Protective Order of Elks, Calhoun, GA No. 1883, and was selected as “Elk of the Year 2018-2019.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Johns Jr.; niece, Michelle Carter; nephew, Tony Alford; brother-in-law, Bobby Campbell and Gene Alford; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Azalee Campbell.

Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Campbell Johns, to whom he was married for 46 years; daughter Dawn Dodd and her husband Greg; grandchildren Ali Laviana and Garrett Dodd and his Fiancé, Amanda Atchley; one sister, Ann Alford; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Mary Johns, Donald and Kathy Johns, Roger and Diann Johns, and Darlene Walraven Johns; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held Wednesday, June 5th, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Eddie Brannon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Calhoun Elks Lodge dining hall.

The family asks that flowers be omitted and contributions be made in Bob’s memory to the Calhoun Elks Lodge, 143 Craigtown Road NE, Calhoun, Georgia 30701.
