Rev. Willie Boyd (Bob) Johnson, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Gordon Hospital.
Rev. Johnson was born on November 6, 1928 in Tifton, GA, son of the late Samuel O. Johnston and Icy Young Johnston. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Patterson Johnson, and a son, Rodney Johnson. During his lifetime, Rev. Johnson served as pastor of Antioch Baptist Church and the Hopewell Baptist Church. He was a member of South Calhoun Baptist Church and was retired from the textile industry.
Survivors are a son, Keith Johnson and his wife Jewell of Adairsville; three grandchildren, Yolanda Fuller, Joshua Johnson and Haley Johnson; one great grandchild, Tristan Fuller; companion and special friend, Carolyn Robinson; and a sister, Vera Parris of Fairmount. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Rev. Willie Boyd (Bob) Johnson will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00pm. from the South Calhoun Baptist Church, with Rev. Clinton Green and Rev. Jimmy Thomas officiating. Rev. Tony Hall will conduct the graveside service at Chandler Cemetery. Rev. Johnson will be placed in state at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the funeral service. Singing will be arranged by the South Calhoun Baptist Church Choir. Active pallbearers include Michael Johnson, Billy Henson, Kevin McEntyre, Kevin Benton, Randy Gilbert, Kent Thomas, and Robert Paris. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30pm Tuesday. Honorary escort will be the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class and the Deacons of South Calhoun Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Monday during the hours of 4:00pm and 9:00pm.
