Bobby Haygood

Mr. Robert Eugene "Bobby" Haygood, age 74 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Gordon Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Gordon County on March 10, 1937, son of the late Earnest and Bertha Barnett Haygood. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Johnson; a daughter, Diane Haygood; a son, Byron Haygood; and a step-son, Randy Witt.

Mr. Haygood was retired from Fafnir Corporation, and was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Catherine Carney Haygood; a daughter, Patty Frost; step-children, Ricky Witt, Sammy Witt, and Tim Witt; and a sister, Pat Chastain. Grandchildren surviving are Laney Frost, Casey Frost, Tulley Frost, Chloe Frost, Chad Witt, Cody Witt, Josh Witt, Dalton Witt, and Dylan Witt. His life-long best friend, Kenneth Sutherland also survives.

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Eugene "Bobby" Haygood will be held Thursday, March 1st at 10:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Quarles and Kenneth Sutherland officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers include Kenneth Sutherland, Timmy Chastain, Barry Rickett, Sam Witt, Ricky Witt, and Cody Witt. These gentlemen are requested to assemble at the funeral home Thursday at 9:15am.

The Haygood family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
