Mr. Bobby Ray, age 74 of Calhoun, died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on July 19, 1937, son of the late William and Beulah Galloway Pharr Ray. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Guy D. Massingill, and a sister, Mary Ruth Burchett.

Mr. Ray was owner/operator of Ray's Wrecker Service, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Whitfield Ray; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Janice Ray of Calhoun, and Jimmy and Jennifer Ray of Adairsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jerry Davis of Calhoun; step-sons, Mike Woodward and his wife Diane of Calhoun, Ricky Whitfield and his wife Beverly of Calhoun, Randy Whitfield and his wife Karen of Dalton, and Jeffery Whitfield of Calhoun; step-daughters, Gloria Burnett, and Lynn Wilson and her husband Timmy, all of Calhoun; and a brother, Billy Ray of Lithia Springs. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Ray will be held Thursday, December 8th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jackie Waits officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Jason Davis, Jamie Davis, Blake Ray, Alex Ray, and Scott Ray. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Ray and Owen Ferguson.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
