Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Wesley Shaw, 80, of Calhoun died at Advent Gordon following several months of declining health. Bobby was born in Gordon County on November 4, 1940; he was the son of the late Willie and Hessie Elizabeth Garmon Shaw. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Rev. G.W. and Elizabeth Shaw, John Shaw, Rev. McRae Williams, and JM Wofford. Bobby was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church; he attended Plainview Baptist Church. Bobby had many talents. He was an excellent painter and writer. Many people were blessed by the poems he wrote and shared in area churches. He retired from the city of Calhoun Cemetery Division.
Bobby is survived by his siblings, Edmond Shaw and his wife, Alice, Jerold Shaw, Frances Williams, Louise Wofford, Mary and Rev. Earnest Channell; his sister-in-law, Diane Shaw; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The Shaw family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from Plainview Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the family plot at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Gary Hibberts and Rev. Mark Harris will officiate. The James Wiliams family will arrange music for the service. Pallbearers are William Channell, Nathan Channell, Doug Shaw, Keith Cochran, Moses Ingles, and David Williams.
Due to the severity of the Covid-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to wear face coverings and practice social distancing guidelines at all times.
