Mr. Robert Western (Bobby) Woodring, 73 of Calhoun, died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. He was born in Bartow County on February 3, 1942, son of the late Richard E. (Bud) and Cora Isabell Clark Woodring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Woodring; and two sisters, Edna W. Cox and Elaine "Bo" Abernathy.
Bobby was an avid sports fan. He played basketball for his alma mater, Adairsville High School, and for many years played for various local softball teams. He was a huge impact on many young boys he coached over the years in football and baseball. He loved his grandchildren and was always interested in their extra-curricular activities. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Vivian Patterson Woodring; his son and daughter-in-law, Daren and Holly Woodring of Calhoun; his daughters and sons-in-law, Carmen and Stephen Ballard of Rome, and Sonya and Dennis Edwards of Calhoun; and grandchildren, Cody Benton, Chase Benton, Preston Edwards, Ashton Woodring, Payton Woodring, and Brayden Woodring. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services to honor the life of Mr. Robert Western (Bobby) Woodring will be held Wednesday, October 28th at 11:00 AM from Trinity Baptist Church, with Rev. Mitch Phillips officiating. Music will be arranged by Ritchie Parker. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Pallbearers will include Tracy Edwards, Cody Benton, Chase Benton, Preston Edwards, David Fletcher, and Jason Patterson.
The Woodring family will receive friends at Trinity Baptist Church, 1170 Rome Road, Calhoun, on Tuesday, October 27th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
